Chemistry + Microbiology = HELL.

So, if you notice the title, you may realize as to WHY I haven't posted anything in over a month. I told my husband earlier this week: "shit just got real." Now, I don't mind science classes, but, really? I will never be the individual who breezes through chemistry, I simply just do NOT get it. The teacher for Micro has basically set up everyone for failure. Here, study this, no no, wait, I am going to put things we NEVER studied on the exam. I guess I'm not laughing, but he probably is. Jerk. Who cares about fungi and protozoa, anyways? not this gal.

AAAnnnyways.

You may have noticed that something positive did come out of this month, and Recycled Fabric was featured in our local newspaper, the www.argusleader.com. I thought it was going to be a small article, but nope, it was massive. So, it was very cool, except for the fact that they put no link or email to contact me, so it really did nothing for my business. Boo, stink. Ah, well.

I have been creating lots of fun new things. T-shirt material is my new fun theme for the season. Re-doing old t-shirts, its fun and comfy. Perfect. Here is one shirt that I have been wearing the last week..
Anyone who would like me to re-do one of their old t-shirts, please let me know and I would be happy to do so! Also, more toddler things to come. Here is a link to some new baby/toddler pants I have been making. They look horribly cute on Olive.

South Dakota in all of its glory.

Last night was monumental, we attended the fair. South Dakota's Sioux Empire fair, also known as a freak show. Ok, a freak show is a little harsh, but it's definantely interesting. Olive had an absolute blast, and as far as my husband and I are concerned, as long as Olive is happy, everybody' happy. We indulged in something called 'Idaho Potatotes,' which are completely ridiculous. Waffle fries smothered in delicious fake cheese, sour cream, chives, bacon, some sort of beefy questionable substance and of course, ketchup. I will illustrate this above.

I consider myself to be a healthy person, or at least I attempt. This evening I was at a complete fail, when it came to what I think about my food BEFORE I ingest it into my body. Oops?

On a creative note (which is what this blog is supposed to be about) I made Olive some cute little bloomers yesterday. It was really simple, the hardest part was being able to find some panties that fit her properly, oh, and taking a picture of her. That is usually the hardest part of everything, she never stops. So, I simply attached some pretty little vintage lace to the butt, and voila, baby bloomers. She'll probably poop on them soon, but at least the poop will look a little more sophisticated.

(Oh, the cute dog off to the side is guthrie, he's for sale. According to my husband he's not, but just to warn you he digs holes, doesn't listen and runs away. Any takers??)

Home is where the heart is..

...Minneapolis, Mn, that is. I moved away from this amazing city almost 2 years ago, and when my husband and I return, it is like we never left. I miss the crazy lady on the 12C bus, who carried her dog, and talked to it as if it were her long lost friend, and the guy with the crazy afro downtown and, and..character, I miss character and reality. Sioux Falls is a bubble, and a lovely bubble, it just makes you forget about reality and sometimes reality is that pull that forces you to discover who you are..

ANYWAYS, about Minneapolis. They also have amazing thrift stores, like Value Village (and the heaven's part). I find the most incredible things at this thrift store, original Keane paintings and clothing from the 1930's in PERFECT condition. I go craaazy when I am in this place, along with every other person. It is usually push to shove, and I'm not an aggressive person, but when it comes to thrifting-I put on my game face. On our last trip to the cities to visit my Dad and our besties new babe, we of course, had to make a stop. Some good finds! One of them happened to be a beautiful antique child shirt/tunic. It was in incredible condition and had enormous potential. It was a crisp white, with that touch of creme brulee to it, it had been worn by children many times, and those children have since grown old. The edges had a light blue to it, and the lines of the shirt were beautiful. A great find.

Mentioned in a previous post, I had discussed finding amazing pieces at an estate sale. Well, one of these finds was a gorgeous piece of fabric, it was a light linen/silk fabric, with an esquisite floral design. I simply married these two pieces together, and quite a bit of arm-hole stretching and back v-necking to get rid of the ridiciously tiny armholes and neck hole. It was well worth the struggle to CPR this piece back to life, and to make it reasonable for an adult to wear. This has come to be a huge favorite of mine, and I wanted to share the history with you, (and a little of my history). Also, I can't wait to try it out tomorrow. I can already hear my Grandmother scream, "Its see-through, but great florals."

XOXO

Day 2 of blogging and running my ass off.

Well, I'm sitting down for the 1st time today. I do sit down for the day, but I'm usually scanning the room for what sort of destruction is going to happen next, it seems to help if you can anticipate the next move (of the toddler, of course.) My wonderful Grandmother watched dear Olive for a bit today so I could work on some clothing. I have some new listings that I have just posted today: HERE - for some reason the theme of my projects today were red. Cherry red. I think I am holding onto color while it still here, because it is only August and winter is already looming over my head.

I had a helper today while I was putting together a few things, such inspiration and destruction all in the same cute little package. (Destruction is the magic word of the day.)Onto another topic, it just took my computer 2 days to upload this picture. I think its time for a new computer, my old computer from 10 years ago was faster.

I discovered something amazing yesterday: estate sales. Don't look at me like that. Yeah, I should know about them, I know, but I live in South Dakota. Unless you go to Wal-Mart, its completely non-existant. I found the most amazing linens and a vintage cake pan, its amazing! I love finding beautiful things that someone once treasured, and instead of throwing is out, I can create it into something someone can treasure once again. Yikes, gives me the goosebumpies. It can be such a wonderful circle. Hakuna matata? Wait, the circle of life, maybe. Alright, its all Lion King. At any rate, check out how you can fine some old treasures that can become new once again. The age old saying, recycle, reuse and reduce.

More tomorrow, I wish there were 5 more hours in a day..

Re-attempting this whole blog thing-y.

So, I used to know how to create websites (minimally) at one time, back in 1998. Well, apparently, things have changed. SO, i am going to attempt to keep up with my blog this time. I will write a little of this, and a little of that-but mostly about creating. I want to keep everyone updated about how and why I create what I create. Also, the turmoil that goes into finding the time in my B-U-S-Y schedule to do anything in my free time but sit in a quiet, dark room. Did someone say quiet? Its just non-existant in my life, but I really wouldn't have it any other way.

So, I will try to update every few days, and really see where this whole blog thing-y takes me..

Nine months and counting..

So, welcome to my new blog. I've never done this before, but I'm usually the last one to figure something out. I'm too busy thinking about chocolate or fabric patterns to care about blogging. Well, here I am, blogging. To update everyone: I am 39 weeks pregnant, and I am absolutely miserable. Has any other woman ever been through this? As if I didn't respect women enough, this just ups the uber-respect of women. I feel like a beached whale while I am trying to get off of my bed, my fins flopping in the wind as my husband attempts to push me far enough to the side so that I am able to scoot my way to the floor. Then, up I go to pee for the fiftieth time during the night. I believe it is nature's way of preparing me for the sleepless nights to come. I can remember when ten in the morning was very early..ahh, how things have changed.

Also, put a few new pieces on my craft site: recycledfabric.etsy.com, they are oh so beautiful.

SO, thats just a small piece of my life. I hope you will read more, I probably wouldn't, but I will be back tommorrow with more updates. Is anyone even going to read this?
